In our short film, András Soós, the author and the performers talk about his four-volume series of publications entitled The Microcosm of String Ensemble Music.
Bartók's Mikrokosmos is perhaps the most influential series of piano pieces of the 20th century, and one of the foundational works of piano pedagogic literature.
The Microcosm of String Ensemble Music offers 148 transcriptions from the series for playing in various string ensembles, arranged in four volumes according to difficulty.

Based on the Béla Bartók Complete Critical Edition, these three cloth-bound volumes in slipcase include Bartók's complete choral works. The lyrics in this Urtext edition are in the original languages and in the translations authorized by the composer. Literal English translations are provided in the appendix, which also includes early and alternative versions of the works.
The Comments give an overview of the textual, folk-music, and compositional sources, and provide detailed information on the performance practice of Bartók's choral works.
